Jewelultra Diamondbrite - experience / opinion?
« on: May 14, 2009, 04:25:41 pm »
Hi there,

Last year - i did somthing a bid dumb and in a hasty fashion wiped off some birdsh*t from the car. Later when I washed it properly, I noticed that the grit in the mess had left fine scratches on the bonnet of the car.

I took it to an car detailing place to see if they could do something about it. They reckoned so. They took the car for a day and did their thing on it and applied the Jewelultra stuff. The car really looked great when I picked it up and in the direct sun light I couldn't see any scratches. They said that if I continued to use the conditioner and shampoo products that go with the kit, they would warranty the protection for 6 years.

A year later and I'm starting to be able to see the scratches again, especially under covered carpark lighting. Has anyone got any experience of this treatment?

Is it the original scratches coming back that you can see or are they new ones?

Sounds like the Auto Armour Company we have here. Its a silicone based filler which rapidly hides swirls often leaving Holograms. The people here love it purely cos they dont know how crap it actually is....

Hi,

Apparently it's some kind of mineral oil. The detailing place does Waxoil, Jewel Ultra or something called Nanoprotect.  The Nanoprotect treatment was the most expensive, the Waxoil the least - I went for the one in the middle.

Have any of the detailers heard of it / used it / got opinions on it?

Obviously I can go back to the detailers and get it warranty checked... no problem. But maybe I should go down a different path.

If it's the orignal scracthes that are coming back through then you could go back to the original Detailers to get it warranty checked, as you said.

However, if they didn't fix it in the first place, there's nothing to say that they will actually fix it the second time round!

We would like to think that a much better result could be acheived by machine polishing the car to remove the scracthes and then applying a couple of coats of Carnauba wax... it won't last for six years (in fact, no where near!) but, it will offer a much better overall look at with regular maintanance will offer much better protection against the elements, and of course, the scratches will be gone rather than masked, so you wouldn't have to worry about them coming back through again

Hope this helps  :happy2:

Thanks for the insight.

I think, in the end, it would be better to go for a full and proper detail to sort out the scratches. I've no idea where to take the car to get that done though..

Auto perfection have stated they will travel anywhere to do a detail.  :happy2:

Even the land of the daffodils.  :signLOL:  :signIWS:
There should be plenty of detailers over in Holland, maybe ask on detailing world.  :happy2:

We've been over to Europe a couple of times so far for Details   Another one would be a pleasure and Holland wouldn't be a problem at all for us if you do struggle to find a local Detailer  :happy2:

We love it!  We've made a little holiday out of each one, done loads of sight seeing on the way as a lot of time is spent travelling, and then spent a day working at a job we love... there's nothing better  :jumping:
