High revs when starting car

Hello

I've recently noticed that when I turn my car on for the first time since its been standing for a while it will idle above 1k for 2 minutes, it will then suddenly drop at go below 1k. The only reason I ask is because it is very loud for the first minutes, the sound is almost like my exhaust is blowing...

Any thoughts?

Perfectly normal, it's the Auto Choke 

The exhaust quietens down when the revs settle.

I noticed mines revving a little higher than normal (on cold starts) after fitting the TWINtake CAI..dies down after 30 seconds or so

Most, if not all cars will do this - perfectly normal - and probably more noticeable with mods fitted

Also more noticeable with air-con on. It will rev 100 rpm higher.

Does it 99 times out of 100 on mine and I always wait for the revs to settle down below 1,000 before engaging reverse from my garage. It avoids any clunks on the DSG.
