Brake help required

Tried fitting my rear brakes which were beautiful refurbished by DaveB a couple of months ago, but something seems to be wrong, when you depressed the pedal the piston moves out but it's nowhere near the pad!!  Can the pistons be wound out half an inch to met the piston safely???  When at rest piston is sitting almost flush with the back of the caliper.......

It's not, when you lift the pedal it pulls back in????

it will a little, but like i said it will move out, how fast are you pumping the pedal?

It's not me mate, my mechanic has the car......he has said that when you pump the pedal as soon as you take your foot off the piston is pulling back to the same position, no matter how many times he pushes it or how quick!?

Hmm ive never had that before, i take it he has managed to bleed the system? he could (in theroy) use a left hand threaded wind back tool to wind the piston out slightly, apart from that i dont know what else to suggest mate

The system is bled fine but not working, I think he will try winding the piston out a bit further and see if that helps, he's going back to his garage now, dedicated....!

handbrake on and off plenty of times will help

I've not anything yet today but honestly I'm baffled, I mean rear brake calipers are not exactly a technological master piece, are they?

This does sound strange, you'll have to let us know what the problem was once you've got it fixed.  Keepin my fingers crossed for you.

Roger that, if the mechanic can't sort it, perhaps DaveB will have an answer, just waiting to hear back from him but I think he is currently on holiday.
