Map lost??............Not yet.
« on: April 26, 2012, 09:48:43 am »
Disconnecting the batt/swapping battery? How long do I get before my Revo map is lost, if anything? My stage 4 map is not on my sps yet. Cheers, Stevie.

.
I think it gets lost as soon as you restart the engine after battery disconnection.

Get it loaded on your SPS box as *backup. Otherwise you'll need to visit a Revo dealer and may need proof of Revo purchase. Some dealers charge a set fee of ~£25.

* EDIT: Read DomT's post below. It's the Boost/Fuel/Timing settings which are stored, not the actual map.

Ok thanks. Was wanting my race battery in for Sunday (also when my map will be stored on sps) and i'm not carrying two batts. Will just wait and leave the big heavy monster in. Cheers!

The SPS does not store the map, it is merely the interface that Revo use to adjust their map. the SPS allows the user to store predefined map settings (boost, timing, fuelling) in addition to switching between Revo stock and performance modes and the anti theft enable/disable. Disconnecting the battery I'll not lose the map, merely revert to Revo stock and need the ps to switch back to the performance map and correct settings.

I only have stage2+ with my sps not stage4 so i'm screwed until Sunday. What stores the map, the ecu?..........and disconnecting the battery resets the ecu there for map would be lost? Cheers, Stevie.

You can read the settings with a laptop and the SPS. The settings are level of tune independent.

Time to read the instructions.

No it does not delete the map, it just reverts back to basic settings such as B1 T0 F0 IIRC

You'll need the SPS switch to adjust back.

With other maps, disconnecting the batter had no effect.

In all cases I'm aware of, disconnecting a battery will NOT erase a performance map from a car. If this was the case, the OEM map would be deleted when your battery goes flat  as its written on to the ECU in the same fashion...

Disconnecting the battery will merely send any 'self-learn' settings back to their respective datum, i.e. timing advance, etc, until the car is driven a reasonable distance to re-learn these settings. I never had any issues with my mapped civic after removing the battery several times  :happy2:
