K04 converted GTI's
« on: April 26, 2012, 01:04:03 pm »
Just want to know more from people that have already done the conversion:

1)  What maps have they used custom or generic and what is recommended?

2) How is the power put down compared to the K03s, Is there lag or low torque low down?

3) What sort of fuel economy are people seeing in town and on the motorway?

4) Just confused on the diverter relocation, Is it possible for me to run in up to the front of the engine?

5) What power can be achieved with the normal TBE, intake, HPFP, and stage 2+?

Thanks in advance  :happy2:

I have 330 bhp with k04 conversion. My map is fully custom made as apparently forge twin take does not talk to well . It,s too efficient!
Car is totally different. If you want to have power available straight away you will find yourself driving in lower gears. In this respect k04 is more laggy I would say. However top end it,s very quick. Fuel efficiency improved for me as well and now on my daily commute to work I see consumption figures I have never seen before.
In general highly commended

That sounds pretty decent! what are your 0-60 times? also are there any problems you know of going from k03 to k04 in terms of reliability? cheers :)

Hi Paul, sorry to butt into this thread, but have you got the full KO 4 engine, or just the turbo with all the extras??

Cheers

Andrew

I can echo this and mine gives slightly better mpg over K03 stage 2+ too. I've told the wife that the conversion will pay for itself soon with the petrol we're saving  :signLOL:

So who are you mapped with? Can i know what you done about the diverter valve wire did you get it extended or just pull it up to the front of the engine? And about the MPG's have you got rough figures for town and motorway and speeds etc?
Thanks for the answer very usefull  :happy2:
