Replica alloy wheel bolts.
« on: May 15, 2009, 12:33:24 pm »
Just a quick one.I'm after a set of BBS ch replica's that are on ebay, seller says they come with replacment ''chrome'' bolts.A mate had a set of replica alloys & used the bols that came with the wheels & by the end of the first winter they were a  rusted mess.
My question is with the replica alloys could i use the ''standard vw wheel bolts ?.The off set on the replica wheels are  the same as the factory rims. Thanks in advance. :happy2:

You need to make sure that the replica wheels are a radius seat and not a 60 degree taper.  as long as they are radius then you will be A OK  :happy2:  If not, i can get hold of black bolts (anodised) that last plenty long enough

Just compare them to your original bolts, you will be able to tell the difference. I think savechip put the original bolts in with his devil wheels and one of his passenger side wheels overtook him as he was driving down the road.  :chicken:

I think we need to make a thread up about this and make it a sticky somewhere, i am sure we are going to get a few people who just wont realize that you need to change the bolts as well, with some applications.  :chicken:
Aftermarket wheels are going to become more common as the price of the MK 5 comes down.
