RVC and Not Switching Off
« on: April 28, 2012, 05:33:05 pm »
Hi All,

Battery went flat on the old beast a few week`s ago due to lack of use  :ashamed:

Charged it back up with a battery as per normal, but now the RNS510 has started to play up.  I wont turn off when I take the key out and also the RVC don`t come up on screen when I select reverse.

Just done a quick scan with VCD and It can`t see / connect with the NAV controller ??? AT ALL...

I can post a copy of the scan if required on here later but just thought someone might know off the top of their head, maybe a fuse or some other quick fix..

As a side note this has been working in the car 100% for at least 2 years and nothing has changed ...

Thanks in advance

Stick the scan up Craig.

Failing that a gallon of V-Power and a box of Swan Vestas should cure your problems.

It's weird that in vcds in comes up no responce from controller.. But rns works from turning on/off.just won't shut down when the keys are removed.. is there a fuse between the can gateway to the nav?

Has it worked since the extreme cold temps we had Craig?

No idea Ian, you know it`s a only a weekend car and I`ve been working away alot in the past few months so not had time to enjoy it...

I got back last weekend and tried to start it and the battery was flat, I even had to put the radio code back in once I`d sorted the battery out...

Heres the fault codes listed on the scan ...

Is it worth disconnecting the battery now it's charged, and reconnecting Craig?  Some weird faults can be created, but as it looks like its drawn a blank with the in house guru's, worth a go. ? :happy2:

You might have acquired a central locking fault. On your scan there is a fault against the drivers door. These things do happen.

Ideally if you can remember the last time you used it and it was alright as the cold weather does strange things. My car changed itself to metric overnight and the bluetooth went titsup all down to the cold.
