Again points take BUT i can insure a standard GTI for around the £300.00 toch.Another £170 odd quid just for a set of wheels & an exhaust which as before is hardley any extra power seems a lot to me.

With the utmost respect, you can't expect to modify a car and not pay a higher insurance premium.

I think this has been said previously, but Greenlight quoted me £100 cheaper than any other insurance company. Furthermore, I originally asked for a quote for my car in standard form. Even after all of my modification (and there are plenty), my premium has not changed over the standard GTI (200ps) quote.  :happy2:

£300 standard may be a good deal (after all, that sector is a lot more competitive.

But if you're soo peeved off with what Greenlight are charging, what are your original insurers wanting for the exhaust/wheels to be added? I bet its probably a bit more than that reasonable £472 Greenlight are asking for.

Of course you can always try and shop around.

Actually, it's not a matter of shopping around for the cheapest price - It's far more important to have the peace of mind that all your mods are accounted for and covered like-for-like.

Agreed. The problem with confused.com et al is they do a good job of finding you the cheapest deal but you don't get something for nothing. My sister had no end of trouble with her 'cheap' insurance company when it came to actually making a claim. I'm happy to pay more and be safe in the knowledge that everything is covered, they won't try and worm their way out of a claim and I get a courtesy car etc. as promised and not have to pay any extra because someone hit me.
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

Mate, you complain about £470?

I'm paying near enough £1000 for my standard ED30!

Greenlight never got back to me.

Coming up to 3yrs no claims (only started driving 3yrs ago). Will see what DL's renewal quote is.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

26.

Plus its no voluntary excess. The compulsory £250 excess is more than I want to pay for driving a performance car.
