Stage2+ what next?!
« on: May 01, 2012, 12:36:22 am »
Hi guys my mk5 golf gti is currently stage2+ and i wanted some advice on where to go next. Currently putting out 280-290bhp and i want more power! What is the next step as i am new to all this tuning stuff. I bought the car lile this! Would it be an uprated turbo ko4 with s3 intercooler and injectors? Hoe much does it all cost i have no idea.

This is currently what i have on the car;

GTI 05 plate
55,000 miles

It was tuned by Statller
Evoms Intake
Turbo boost 3inch exhaust
Autotech Fuel Pump
GIAC extreme software (Ko3)+stage 3 gearbox software

Tarox Brake Discs and pads
19 inch matte black pro race rims
Michellin pilot sport tyres

Time for a bigger turbo, yes?
Fueling is nearly max'd out now and so is your remap. Hardware is the only thing left for noticeable power additions. A K04 would fit right in with your existing mods.

If you wanted more power than the K03 can do i would have bought a KO4.

me perseonally don't like the idea of switching engines around unless it was for a project car. but for my daily, that is out the question.

from what i've read, it seems it would have been better for you to of gone straight to a KO4 engine from standard due to the cost involved!

anyway good luck with the KO4 switch (if you go for it), maybe you could pop down to a meet 1 day  :happy2:

No difference in terms of HP, but it helps keep the air temps down. Basically not having heat soak!

1000 ish no way! In that case u are getting bumped! You can pick up good k04's for around £350-£450 and injectors from £100-£200, you will also need the parts needed to fit it such as diverter relocation etc

Bloody hell that sounds cheap compared to what i was quoted. I called up statller and they said for a vw ko4 1400 injectors 170 and intercooler 400 and fitting 800! :0 where would be a good place to pick up a ko4?!

Ebay is the best place, some are high and some low, I so luckily grabbed a brand new from a 2011 plated car with only 9k miles for £350 which is a bargain and the only reason I actually went for k04!

I would also start looking at investing in a LSD and a new clutch, as you'll need them shortly afterwards!!!  :happy2:

Buy a faster car, or at least make sure you also set aside enough for a rebuild for when it blows up.
