** Detail My Ride - APR Golf R **
Greeners:
Some of you may already be familiar with APR's rather rapid Candy White Golf R demo car. I have been speaking to APR for a while about giving the car a bit of an overhaul, which some of you may be happy to read involved the removal of the rather loud graphics.
The car also needed a few dent repairs and we agreed an enhancement detail of the interior and exterior would be the best way forward.
So as she arrived @ DMR!
So first up was to remove the vinyl. Now I do have some experience removing vehicle vinyl, but this stuff was something else!! It needed lots of heat, and the second it cooled it tore and snapped!! :fighting: In total I spent around 10 hours getting it all stripped, which included the removal of lights and various trim parts.
During:
Great 50/50
Getting there!
On to the bonnet....
Next up the car was pulled outside for the decontamination and cleaning stage:
This was an area on the sill that the wrap had been peeling from: :scared:
The car was initially rinsed down to remove as much debris as possible, then a generous coat of DMR's special recipe snow foam!
Left to dwell while we attended to the more intricate area's with G101...
Then a thorough wash with Dodo Juice Supernatural Shampoo and a Lambswool wash mit:
Rinse:
Then it was Iron-X time! Stuff smells awful but is an incredible product!
Unsurprisingly there was a lot of fallout present!
We were also losing the light at this stage!
Then it was Tardis time, not much Tar but worth going over the car the ensure we remove as much as possible prior to claying.
Snow foamed once again to remove any remaining decontamination products:
All clean and moved inside for claying:
Not too much contaminates present but the paint was now feeling much smoother to the touch!
We decided to hit the gloss black areas and lights with the Mequires MF system and cleanse the rest of the paintwork with Dodo Juice Lime Prime using a 3M Yellow Pad:
Before:
After:
Before:
After:
Now onto the tail lights.
Before:
And After:
Then onto preparing all surfaces for the LSP!
We decided to go with Auto Finesse Tough Coat as it does compliment the lighter coloured paint finishes, and we wanted maximum durability for this car. So some afters, again the light wasn't the best but she looked 1000 x better in the flesh!!
Wheels were polished with AG Super Resin then sealed with Auto Finesse Mint Rims. Tyres were dressed with Perl.
Interior looking much fresher!
Thanks for looking!
