Washing the beast!!
« on: May 04, 2012, 06:18:35 pm »
Need to buy myself a Pressure washer as I'm about to get her detailed soon and don't want to go down to the local £5 Albanian sandpaper wash afterwards.

Can anybody advise which would suffice?  I'm assuming it doesn't have to cost £300+

http://www.tesco.com/direct/diy-car/pressure-washers/cat3376646.cat?sc_cmp=ppc_g_cheap%20karcher%20pressure%20washer_e&gclid=CIym2NWQ568CFUkMtAodKBHo1A

Also, if you can advise on this, maybe you can also tell me about this 'snow wash' I keep hearing and seeing about, and which one and where to buy it?   :happy2:

All advice much appreciated  :popcornsoda:

I'd be looking at the 550model upwards, will be more than enough for cleaning the car and snowfoaming etc and will also be handy round the home :happy2:

With regard to the snow foaming all you need is a snowfoam lance and some snowfoam liquid and away you go

http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/Store/Search.aspx?SearchTerm=snow+foam+lance

could probably be found cheaper with a search :happy2:

I got a small karcher electric pressure washer not sure of the model. It's best thing I ever bought came with tools for £100. Iv seen them about for the same price, think the sale price is quite common..
When you do get one invest in a snow foam fittment and some snow foam well worth it.

I have one of these: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7420205.htm

Can't fault it for the money and quite a step up from the base model Karcher i had imo  :happy2:

As for snowfoam i use the Valet Pro PH neautral stuff as it doesnt strip off any wax protection you have on the car

Thanks guys  :notworthy:

Never knew you had to actually buy another lance to add to the system  :stupid:

So I guess the £160 unit should suffice K3.550 X series!!

I went for a slight alternative. I bought myself a Nilfisk C110. I really can't fault it, and it's been out once - twice a week / every week for nearly a year now. Only thing I will say is, the manoeuvrability of the machine's abysmal!

Hi mate, thanks for the info.
The one u mentioned as a steal, do I need any extras with it?

No. Not from Karcher anyway.

Get yourself a Snow foam lance from Autobrite and some Magifoam and you are all set  :happy2:

Do these guys have an eBay store?

I bought a return unit 2yrs ago on eBay for £80 delivered! It was a 4.130. (130bar)

This thing came brand new, and works faultless every time.

One piece of advice.... Make sure you keep the threaded outlet that the lance hose screws onto well lubed.
It's so easy to cross thread this plastic part.

A quick spray with some lube and it will screw on mega easy!

So, don't go spending a fortune. I've used my mates nilfisk and it was great. It was 110bar and it's more than adequate for car washing.
