ceramic brake pad set for golf v gti
« on: May 04, 2012, 07:19:13 pm »
Hi
It's time to replace the front brake pad set and I think to put ATE ceramic pads instead of the other ATE classic.
The discs I have in front axle is zimmermann sport brake discs non ceramic in normal size (318x25).
Is this combination correct?
If someone has an opinion please let me say.
Thanks

I'm by no means what I'd call technically minded but for me ceramics are only good for consistsent high speed driving.  Eveen then they rarely get up to operating temperature.  Theyre'really designed for track use and not for the road.  I could be wrong.

I think a number of members are running the Pagid performance pads on here with good results.  I'm sure one of them will post up soon.

I also have approximately the same opinion as you, but I read the article to the ATE site and i changed my mind. They also say that do for normal use

I'm still confused

I'm running the pagid rs4-2 blues in my NQSBBK and they're immense  :driver: although I don't think they're ceramic?

.
I must say that the ATE web site does quite a convincing job of showing the benefits of their pads. Such CERAMIC pads may be the way forward.

Looking at replacing my discs and pads was going to make a post asking if pagid are any good?  I was going to buy from eurocarparts.

they have the double price but do triple km. Ι think seriously to buy it
and this article from the ate sait says that.....
<< ATE Ceramic is not a high-performance brake pad. It is designed for normal driving. Ceramic brake pads should not be confused with those made of carbon fiber (reinforced silicon carbide), which are used together with ceramic composite brake disks in high-end sports cars and luxury cars.

Ceramic friction materials consist of ceramic fibers, fillers, binding agents and mild abrasives, among other substances. Their typical characteristics are light lining material, low noise in braking, low wear and low dust generation.>>

....That sounds good. I don't think that anyone on this forum has used these ATE pads. People tend to assume high performance, track or trackday pads when they read the word "ceramic". If you get them we'll all be interested in what you think of them.

Yassou!  :happy2:

I run Pagid RS29s in my daily, they're fine. Some of the lesser brands can be a bit sketchy when cold - ATE I'd trust implicitly, and the fact they're TUV approved adds to that.
Sideways yo!
