ok fag pack maths here goes

The Golf is about 1600kg (brake weight for MOT)
bike is say 350kg ish

so to be the same power to weight ratio you would need about 800bhp, but it doesnt work like that, id say you would need 400 to keep up but then you would murder it in the corners as you can go round them almost twice as fast

A 350kg bike ! more like two bikes  :innocent:

I did race a KTM super duke with my 350bhp and full interior and he overtook me (in a straight line) as if I had 100bhp. So was just wondering how much is needed to have a real good play with a fairly quick bike.................or even pull out a little on a fairly quick bike.  :happy2:

A bike will p1ss all over most cars other than exotic supercars. A Zx10R will do over 100mph in first gear
A Golf would have to have 4wd and some serious horsepower to have any chance . New Suzuki GSXR1000 virtaully has 1bhp per kg !

ok so the heavyist is 1617KG, i didnt think VOSA would have been far out TBH, so with that in mind i would say the S3 would be close to 1900kg as i first thought :P

On the scales my lard arse estate weighs 1495kg.

I raced a fireblade in my 440 bhp ibiza and was exactly the same.  Also only just beat a gsxr750 in a mk1 lcr with 430 bhp and a fully loaded interior.

Is it jyst me who's slightly bemused that people want to be able to race a bike and win.  Never gonna happenunless its a pump rider/crap bike/tight track or huge expenditure on the car

TBH your Octy needs to be your/Alisons daily and you need a Caged, stripped, BT MkII Cupra for yourself.  :popcornsoda:

Good replies thanks. By the looks of it i think we are talking high 400's to be able to play with a quick 600cc bike or similar. Plus if the biker started off behind me he would probably be blind and lying in a hedge with the amount of sh*t my screamer throws up. With 520 and hopefully 12**kg I shouldn't be far away from where I want to be. Will look into getting my Audi weighed soon. Cheers, Stevie.

this thread is hillarious! no car below 500ish bhp will even be close to a bike especially if you're talking supersports like r1 for example! these are in different league! Obviously in tight corners car would be better but straight line????

Not sure if it's only me but everytime I ride a bike car seems to be standing still and doesn't matter be it m3 or a porsche!

I am pretty sure any biker here would have similar impressions

an r1 will do 0 to 150 in about 12 seconds, problem is you have to be a demon rider to make it do that, about 700 bhp per tonne with rider sat on it :signLOL: so golf would need 1000 bhp? a 600  would be about 500 per tonne with rider, but tyre contact patch is the size of a 50p coin so to just wind it back takes big   basically for the s3 to keep up with any sports bike the rider would have to be human i.e. scared  :signLOL:

I'd have to agree with this tbh. Just look on YouTube and you will see 800hp cars being beaten by 750cc bikes never mind the 1000cc bikes.
