Impressed with Poorboys Wheel sealant

 I wasn't willing to part with £30 for 15ml of Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour , so I took the Poorboys route. Spent last weekend polishing and sealing my wheels.
After some really sh*te weather in the week my wheels seemed to repel most of the crap.
Today all I needed to do was shampoo them and preasure wash and they came up like new again.
I guess the question is how long before I need to coat them again - time will tell.

Any thought's on your experiance on good wheel sealents....

I go 6 months with Poorboys. I do put a wax over the top though.

4-6 months by waxing over the Poorboys sealant like Andrew does  All they need during that period is an easy shampoo and like you say they come up like new

+1 took delivery of some this week and had a good clean yesterday and applied to the newly refurbed wheels. easy to work on but if left to dwell is a bit of a PITA to remove. Think I may used too much

yep sounds like you put too much on and left it too long.

With sealants and waxes it's always best to apply thinly and evenly and build up coats by doing multiple applications, buffering off of course after each application.

With the wheel sealant i'm sure it will recommend a time to leave it on the wheels for before buffering off, i think it may be something like 15-20 mins off the top of my head but check the instructions - you can basically tell when it's ready to come off as it will haze.

Put 2 coats of sealant on and then 2 coats of wax and you'll be laughing

There you go, i'd stick with that, any longer and you are getting into grafting territory in order to remove it - not impossible but certainly more work and for no greater benefit.

I never got on with it and i now use FK1000p which seems to do a very good job.

I also have some GTechniq C5 but i haven't used it yet due to how well the FK is doing.

When i next give my a car a thorough clean i am going to do a direct comparison between FK1000p on one side of the car and C5 on the other side (referring to the wheels of course).

You need something that is specific to repelling brake dust. Hence FK1000p is good as it is a High Temp wax. GTechniq C5 is also apparently good as this works in a similar vein but at the nano level.

even though it didn't repel the brake dust you can easily wash it off with a shampoo and no graft and be safe in the knowledge it didn't embed 

If you want to repel the dust see the recommendations by Carl, however your wheels are still going to get dirty at some stage, so may as well use whatever wax you have rather than forking out for specialist stuff - depends how serious you are about it all...
