engine swapping
« on: May 16, 2012, 08:16:09 pm »
hi, ive got a 2005 gti with a k03 turbo, i need to fit a new engine, ive been offered one from a 2007 gti, possibly k04, not to sure yet. Either way, should everything match up going from an ealier engine to a newer one? or is there anything to look out for? do the high pressure fuel pipes still line up if the unions on to the pump are different?
cheers

Everything should match up fine.  You can always take some of the old parts off your old engine too.

Yeah Thats what Im trying to find out, what i may have to swap, Im being a bit cautious as i may have oil contamination so don't want to swap any parts on the oil circuit.

Can't see there being any difference tbh. I'd imagine Vw would keep as much of the engines the same to keep costs down.

It'd be a nice swap tho if it is a ko4
