thanks mate just tried to make an ugly bay look the best it can look really without smoothing parts out and losing the functionalbility of it. The car is how i want it now really when driving to holland with 4 people cruising at half decent speeds with some great tunes is what it's all about for me.

.... x 2 - Exactly what I was going to post. Definitely the best looking 2.0T FSI engine bay I've seen without a cover. Very stylish without being OTT.

colour code FTW ha ha. For anyone that wants any paint work this is the guy he has never let me down even with the 3 day turn around engine schedule on painting all the parts so we could rebuild before MIVW.Cheers neil  :drinking:

Read through this whole thread yesterday and this car is AMAZING!  Is it wet lay carbon that you are doing?  I wish it didnt take so long to do as I would do more of it if that was the case.

Alex

yes overlay genuine carbon  over the factory parts it sends you crackers with all the hours sanding then resin then sanding then resin :rolleye: :rolleye: :rolleye:

Here are a few more updates anyway it has only taken me a year to finally do the door builds :jumpmove: :jumpmove:

The midbass now is soo strong and puts a massive smile on your face with all the hours that have gone into this.

the speaker placement in a mk 5 is practically the only thing i hated about this car when buying it.

So we decided we needed to move the midbass to the front of the door where VW in the wizdom decided to move it to the bk of the door just for the mk 5 lol. they got it right in the mk 1,2,3,4,6 ha ha.

but rather than it just play flat againt the door we needed to build a sealed chamber that would port it back into the door also throught the factory speaker location.

start of the chamber with door fully soundproofed.

being as it has been working lates etc i've been a bit sketchy with the pictures but here you can see the front of the chamber complelty sealed and bolts solidly to the door. ( the door card mearly acts as a finishing peice).

then a little work on the door card

then trimmed and on the car only thing left to finish is the door handles which we have relcated the fuel flap switch into the drivers handle.

and the passeneger door. the other thing that bugged me is the fact the door cards arn't symetrical from the factory so i order an american one(left hand drive) and we fabricated that to fit on the passeneger door. Again we have the handle to plastic eld up with the usual extra controls and just leave the passenger window switch in there.

hope you like.

Love it mate.

Was there anything behind the doorcard to stop the speaker being placed forwards?

I don't think I've ever paid enough attention to the doorcards. Apart from controls, are there any other visible external differences between them or is it all hidden?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
