RCD510 Compatibility

Hi guys

Just a quick one, i am looking at a RCD510 on aution, ends today. Just want to make sure it would be compatible with my car.

RCD510 Part No. 3C8 035 195

vw golf gti 05 plate.

I know about the battery drain/ canbus etc, just need to make sure this RCD510 is compatible, as heard that the newer mk 6 RCD510 are not compatible.

Was it the one which wouldn;t work with an iPod.....he thought it was because it came form an MK6????

If so then I think it's an actually issue with the stereo or iPod lead he's using. Nothing to do with the stereo coming from a MK6.

Not sure, i remember seeing one on the BAY with something along those line, ut not sure if it was this unit im looking at.

However some other autions state that the new model 08 onwards may not fit into older golfs?

Again im not too sure.

all of them fit, just some of the function may not work

DAB - unless you add the antenna
More than likely they will need coding
any car with an old gateway will have battery drain

My RCD 510 DAB came of 2011 MK6, fitted to 2008 MK5 without any issues and no canbus upgrade or coding.

I thought that was the case. and i will be ordering a canbus of you eddie as soon as i get my stero.
