There's a few vids on facetube of KO4 GTI's hitting 290-300kmh (182-187mph), read on another post that with DSG remap with rev limiter set to 7200rpm it could reach 205mph if it had enough power, I would think 400bhp would get you to circa 190mph with a long enough road.

How far off is the MK5 speedo?

I seen 170mph on the clock of mine with circa 300bhp, but i've heard that the clocks are a bit off so probably more like 150-155?

About 8-10% speedos generally over-read so the 170 you saw was probably 153(ish)

That sounds about right. Usually your speedo reading will be about 5-10%ish over true speed. Why do you think you never get pulled doing 85mph when passing the plod!
GPS systems are (on the whole) only 0.1mph out from the cars "actual" speed. Have read a some articles on how non OEM tyres can also make a difference ie size and tread.

Also new tyre vs worn tyre, that effects the tyres circumference too.  :happy2:

I'd be happy with 330bhp! I'd be curious to know how much it affects 0-60 times also. Currently im hitting 6secs flat

You wont get much quicker 0-60 with all that power through FWD, as it will just equate to wheelspin.  I have always though 0-60 is a pointless stat, as most of our daily driving is done in the mid range and not with traffic light grand prixs.  I like 30-70 stats etc as that shows the cars true potential performance wise.  My car is stage 2+ and I find thats more than enough for the roads power wise. I know people thirst for more power and if you google these 1000bhp Supra etc.  When ever they try to use the power the rear wheels just spin up like crazy :rolleye: There is a point when too much power starts to make the car slower as you cant use it and just spin the wheels all the time. Peak figures count for nothing and its how the power is applied from the engine to road that makes the difference.  An extra 40-50bhp is not going to shave seconds of a 30-70 time. You will be looking at a second or two if you are lucky. I was thinking of going K04 but am happy and staying K03, as I wouldnt notice that much difference on the road performace wise, a track to an extent but not on the road.

Good point! Tyre pressures as well (I would imagine) will make difference.  :happy2:
