12yr Old Fiesta Zetec-S detail
« on: May 13, 2012, 03:44:22 pm »
Afternoon folks.

This car belongs to a friend in work. Every time i see it i've felt sorry for it as it was in a sad state as you can see from the pics. She has owned the car since she bought it new 12yrs ago and in that time it has only ever been put through a car wash to clean  :surprised:

So the car was dropped of and this was what i was up against.

Lovely Scratches

Swirl Central

Wheel condition

Engine bay

Interior

Car was then Pressure washed off to remove as much of the loose muck up the sides as possible and then the car was coated with AF Citrus Power

This was left to dwell for 5 minutes and then the car was snow foamed over the top of the Citrus Power using CG No Touch Foam

Whilst this was dwelling of for the next 30mins i went round with a detailing brush cleaning all the door shuts, fuel cap, boot shut etc. The wheels were also cleaned using Bilberry Wheel Cleaner, Daytona Speedmaster brush and also Iron-X, Tardis and a detailing brush

Bit of Bleeding

Once all that was done the car was rinsed off with PW and this was left

Wheels

Next up was to tackle the tar of which there was lots below the door trim between the front and rear wheels

Tardis applied

I used a micro fibre cloth to agitate and remove as much as possible of the tar

Once the tar was gone i then re foamed the car to remove any Tardis or Iron-x that may be lingering

Now that was done i then clayed the car and this was the result from the front wing.

The rest of the car was pretty much the same and i binned the clay afterwards

So this was what i was now up against

So the car was taped up ready for polishing

I tried various pad/polish combinations and found that a 3M Orange compounding pad and Menzerna S500 Fast Gloss gave a good level of correction.

50/50 front wing

50/50 Passenger door

So i went round the rest of the car. Once done i pressure washed the dust off, dried and i then went over the car again using a 3M Blue Finishing pad and Menzerna P085RD Final Finish

Once the polishing was finished the car was then pressure washed off to remove all the dust etc again and the paint was then Sealed with GTechniq C1.5 and then had 2 coats of Swissvax Shield applied. On the lower half of the doors and F&R bumpers i coated with 2 coats of FK1000p to help repel tar etc in the future.

12 hours was left between coats of wax.

In between wax coats i tackled the interior and the outer trims. These were all cleaned with APC and then coated with AF Revive. Car was hoovered out and all rubber seals were treated with Gummipflege. Tyres were dressed with Megs endurance gloss. I didn't take many pics of the remainder but here is a 50/50 of the revive at work

So here are the finished results

Interior

Engine

Exterior

This is my favourite shot. As you can see i got all apart from the deepest part of the scratch out

Comments good or bad welcome as always

Superb turnaround, though how people allow their cars to get to that state is beyond me.
