RNS510 Troubleshooting
« on: May 13, 2012, 07:05:20 pm »
Had a search and couldn't find anything specific.

RNS510 updated to the latest firmware though the unit reboots or doesn't boot up some times on startup and stays on the loading screen.

Worked perfectly before the update.

Version is B and been told reinstalling original firmware might sort it.

Does this sound realistic or could it be hardware issues?

Thanks

Anyone seen this? Does anyone on here repair them? Sure Morty used to though any help would be amazing.

Thanks

So coded the unit properly today. No faults - except says no cd changer  :ashamed:

Downgraded firmware with no issues. Now on 2660.

Comes on with no issues though rebooted randomly on my way home tonight, just once. Splash screen came on and then worked as normal.

This morning before my reinstall of the firmware i got red lines top and bottom and it woud continually restart. Then it worked. Loaded maps today as well which worked. Nav seems to work as well.

So should I upgrade firmware to 3XXX or does this sound like a hardware issue - mainboard???

Since the gateway update things have changed. Now the VW screen comes on straightaway though does the 3-4 reboots then perfect.

Though this morning it came on, then reboot and screen went white - Did a reboot (Setup, i and eject) Then came up with red bars, restart again- all fine.

This is weird. just hope it;s not a mainboard - HDD or power supply I can deal with.
