« on: May 01, 2012, 01:34:19 pm »
Hi,

Looking for highline steering control module which I thought I had but don't :(

Have a few questions,

current one is version BC,

so I need one with type 2 slip ring, but highline. does sw level or lin version matter? Also what is ignition key lock not supported??

Cheers

Think you have the same as I did. BC is the midline controller. The highline controller for type 2 with the same firmware number is BD.

Cheers guys, :happy2:

Found a couple with newer version software, and then I was thinking about the mk6 ones. Are they backwards compatible? they are 1k0953549 part numbers??

Guys going by the ross tech guide above

does anyone know do you have to match the software level between midline and Highline controllers?

I have a BN controller and the exact match would be a BK unit, but have the chance to get a BP unit, but software level is different, will the BP unit be ok, or do I need to hold out for the BK

Any help mucho appreciated  :drinking:

I have one lying around that I removed from the car. It's definitely a Highline, but does not do MFSW or paddles. Came off my 2008 DSG. Not sure of the part number, can check though.

thought all the highline ones done mfsw. there are a few listed as manual only. there are some new ch ones available (mk6) with the mfsw harness but again the software level is different and I cant find out if they will work.

i would be interested in yours if its highline as mine is manual gearbox

I fitted a CH module to mine when fitting mfsw. I think the CH has compatibility with 2 software versions (according to Ross techs page).

CH will allow you to fit mk5 or mk6 mfsw.

Apologies, you are quite right. Just checked the number on Ross Tech and it's the Midline which allows for cruise and board computer but no MFSW. This is probably the standard one on all GTI's. With my car having Highline MFD, I figured it was Highline too.

Looks like the ch may be the way to go then you can also fit the mk6 wheel if needed.

That leads to another question, is the ch compatible with the regular mk5 cruise stalk??

Cheers
