My first car was a pale blue mg metro, loved it. Bought it just before my 17th birthday - bloody hell 20yrs ago!!!! Remember it as if it was last week. Used to jump out of gears bit

My first car was a 3 dr Y reg Austin Metro Vanden Plas in white, with luxury brown velour and fake plastic wood veneer on the doors and dash.

My mate thougt it was hilarious to put the letters 'tic' after Vanden Plas in indelible black marker so it read 'Vanden Plastic' on the hatch!  :signLOL:

A mate of mine had an Avonbar tuned Metro Turbo which spent most of it's time with the contents of it's gearbox on the tarmac.

Fast when it went, or just before it went bang.

My mate used to have one too, it spent half its life being re-built and the other being driven, luckily for him he had a 125cc bike for when it broke.

I was lucky enough to have a B reg White golf 1.3c 3dr (MK2) which was my first car  :happy2: (I bought it off my Mum as she was getting a new car), never looked back and now on my 8th Golf  :signLOL:

My first three cars where MG Metro/Turbo's..........

They are only rare because most of them have rotted away or been scrapped because they were a POS!

+1 my first car was a Green 1.3L SOH 190Y. It was quite funny because I think I paid £800. My mate bought a £12k Vauxhall Nova 1.3SR and he couldn't keep up with me. He was devastated.
Anyway I should have learnt my lesson but alas I bought a Metro Turbo next in white, E reg I think. Within a week the Gearbox was shot so I had to borrow money off my  Mum to fix it. I then realised it was easy to up the boost to 14psi with Pneumatic bits from work and I ordered the correct jetting from Avonbar I believe. It was pretty quick. I sold it soon after and bought a Renault 5 GT Turbo and subsequently had it 'chipped' to 180bhp!
You can now see where it all went wrong, I don't think any car I have owned has stayed standard, why I think I can make it better then the manufacturers God only knows :signLOL:

My two MG's were ok but the Turbo was a nightmare. Should have realised it was going to be fun when it broke down on the way home from collecting it!!

Turns out the ECU was fubbared so that was sold on pretty sharpish. Had to stick to the more mundane for a few years after that as that was when the Insurance bubble burst and my premium trebled overnight!  :sad1:

I had a 1986 Moonraker blue MG Turbo as my first car, in reality it was sh*te but it had a turbo, a freakin turbo!.... Did i mention it had a turbo!  :jumping:

Anyone else put theirs into a chevron board on a roundabout whilst too busy looking at the roof mounted boost gauge...?  :ashamed:
