Nearly put my fist through my stereo..please help!
« on: May 18, 2012, 10:07:58 pm »
Hello guys,

Newbie here. Ok..satnav/stereo locked after battery replacement, code screen came up, looking in my booklet ful of accumulated s hit from previous owner, punched in the code...nothing. Next day went to vw and they plugged there gear in..still nothing. Two coffees later the teck comes back and tells me the code is not being accepted for some reason. Wtf is going on? What are my options?

05 gti with cd changer and nav

Any input will be much appreciated

Thanks,

R

Try http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/317927.aspx

On some other brands (thinking of Vauxhall here), it used to be the case that every wrong attempt resulted in having to leave the stereo & ignition on for double the time before trying again, so after about 9 attempts you'd have to leave it on for a couple of hours!

Give it a bash? If you do, make sure you have headlights, aircon etc turned off to preserve the battery.

Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Possibly.

Other than the code not being accepted, what else could confirm that? Is it even possible to reprogramme?

Thanks,

could you not take it to a car stereo shop, and they could maybe unlock it for you? (I know of 1 or 2 in Leeds that can do so)

I would say if you leave the stereo and ignition on (untouched) for over an hour then input your code and it doesn't accept it - then there's a chance your code has been changed.

A car audio specialist could probably reflash it, as suggested above.
