i had the 10 speaker system, with an 300 unit, the quality is good to a point, but if you want any real clarity or bass they're woefully underpowered. i don't know what any other member have done on here, and the RNS510 seems to be a very popular unit but ultimately it isn't made for producing good sound its a nav and phone unit. as for the ten speaker system all the speakers are the same as the 8 but you have two extra in the front doors. not to knock them but they're small, shallow and a bit pointless. I'm a big fan of good quality sound not a boy racer stupidly loud bass but i have a sub for the kick a system should have ill run through what I've done;
firstly got shot of the original unit and put a 510 unit it, sound was improved but nothing much, sold it on ebay moved to an alpine W202r, this was a huge improvement with its 4x50watt amplifier built in and really improved sound but still it lacked that edge and was very shallow so the next thing i did was take out all the speakers completely. i replaced the 2 rears with some Orion 6" speakers which can give good lows and produce mids/highs with built in tweeter, added sound proofing all round, fronts got shot of all the speakers and replaced the main 6" with some Massive SK slim speakers which also bolt straight in and are purpose built to be shallow enough to fit with no obstructions or modifications needed and be extremely powerful, these also came with tweeters separate which i mounted where the existing tweeters used to be by cutting them out and using the mounts the came with to put them over the top, and as for the extra 2 you get i didn't bother replacing them its un necessary and will more likely have a negative effect on the sound. i also have a mid sized Alpine subwoofer in the boot with built in amplifier which fits in really nicely, its finish matches the boot fabric and glows blue
haha. I'm so happy with the system its absolutely great and can pump out sound so loud it hurts (not competition level mind) never the less its over adequate so ill never want to change it and you wouldn't know anything has been changed until you turned it up
currently running a pioneer heads unit the app radio and will do a review when I've got to grips with it further.
if you have any questions ill be happy to try and answer them or send pics when i have time
