Theres a place in Crewe called more-bhp who have got a may sale on a the moment so a stage 1 is £199 instead of £350! So there is an option for you!

I'm from Crewe and I travelled to R-Tech Based upon their reviews and their knowledge / understanding of the TFSI engine  :notworthy:

i'm from Stoke and i did the same - unfortunately my engine wasn't running right so couldn't go straight for a remap but they diagnosed a problem for me and when it's had all my Stage 2+ hardware i'm going straight back to them for their custom remap  :driver:

I was in the same situation, I went for a stage 2+ gti, as spec and the right car was more important.  Bought from the forum with a warranty too, and has been faultless. I rarely drive at 6k+ rpm anymore :( Do miss the high end push of the larger turbo though, as 5k rpm it dies off a little.  But still good fum, F all traction ;)

How is my baby doing?

Try the search function mate. Thousands of people on here have had their GTI's remapped. Advice everyone on this forum would give you is stick to one of the reputable companies known to the forum, they will check your car over prior and advise you on the best route to take. Its worth travelling to buy quality. Here's a few suggestions in no particular order:

-APR
-REVO
-R-Tech
-PDT

Realistically you will get 230-240bhp from a map (ignore the claims of 260+ bhp - it's not possible).

Try shark performance they do an sts unit that means you dont have to travel as the unit is sent to your home and you upload the map yourself.
Had my map done there and got 240 on the nose. and also had it on there brand new dyno and the curve is as smooth as you like. no torque spikes or anything.
lovely to drive plenty of power werever in the rev range and havent got to worry about destroying my clutch as you might do with more aggresive maps.

I wouldnt worry about strains on your engine at stage 1 mate as long as your mapper knows what they are doing, these tfsi engines are very reliable even at higher power levels.
Ive had both a gti and edition 30 and tuned both and logged both with my racelogic the gti is slightly quicker than the edition 30 to 60mph at stage 1 and a stage 2+ gti isnt that far of a stage 1 edition 30 but the eddy monsters it top end !

This is just a roughy but im sure my stage 1 gti was doing 60 in 5.9 seconds on my best run but i could never equal it again

Mpg was better on my mapped gti by about 6 mpg !!
I had a service at the same time so that could explain the vast differance. Even at stage 2+ i was still about 3 mpg up on standard so well worth doing !

Yea the RS is great ive had it for 8 months now and ive not even modded it yet ! I think that says alot about the car as i usually start changing bits round after a couple of weeks !

The gti is a great car bud, one of the best cars ive owned, so enjoy it - plenty of time left for you to buy an rs In a few years as there are plenty of owners who really look after them, so buying one in a couple of years should still see you getting a choice of good pampered one owner cars

Ive had both the full milltek and bluefame (BCS) systems on my gti and both were great !!
Id probably go with the blueflame or as its know now the BCS system as it sounds a bit better and very well priced !
Thats who ill be using for the RS aswell cant really beat the bcs guys for price !
But i will say that i thought the slightly thinner 2.75 inch pipe miltek system suited the gti better than the 3 inch blueflame as it felt like you got a better mid range power band than the bcs but the bcs was better top end, swings and roundabouts really depends where you like the power about really both great though !

Cant remember the prices it was a while ago i bought them,
If you are just getting a stage 1 remap you can get away with just the cat back exhaust which will cost you roughly £450 although this is not required, its just an optional extra if you want abit of noise !
If you are going stage 2 you will need the full turbo back system which is about £1150, you are better going for the 200 cell sports cats as you wont have any troubles come mot time, if you go de cat your car will more than likely fail an mot
