As has been previously mentioned on this forum, the Mk5 looks like the odd one out especially if the mk6 was added on to the end of that, a lot more curvey

cool clip, the design of the GTI started off very masculine, with the mk III they introduced slightly feminine lines to a masculine shape but only very slightly, this was then increased more for the Mk iV. The MK 5 however is a full on feminine shape. The mk VI /5.5 is the Mk V feminine shape with some masculine lines added to it. I therefore predict the MK7 will introduce even more masculine lines but will still be essentially based on the Mk 5's feminine shape.

I'm not sure that Fritz and his design team in Wolfsburg Deutschland are quite so conscious of how they bend the gender. I usually refer to my cars as "she" so I suppose I think they are all feminine.

that's a good question but not necessarily pertinent to the shape and lines a car has. Look at Alfas of late (mito, giulietta, 147) the overarching design is one of femininity but i'd guess that the majority are driven by males. So much so that Alfa gave one of their flagship makes an outright female name and market it as a sexy blonde  

Out of all the golfs the Mk5 by far and away has the most feminine shape and all the lines on it are feminine too. The Mk6 has a feminine shape but VW in their efforts to "face lift" the Mk5 gave it some masculine lines. I'd say the styling transition from Mk5 ---> Mk6 mirrors the Mk2 ---> Mk3 in reverse (i.e feminine shape given some masculine lines vis a vis masculine shape given some feminine lines).

For the record i'd guess and it's just my guess, GTI / Ed 30 / R series definitely = male majority. Bog standard golfs and GTDs = much more even between male / female owners. Maybe the office of statistics have the answer

There's a lot of suited female office workers who drive Golfs but mostly TDI's and this was especially the case with black Mk4 GTI's.
