hfpf real life mpg effects?
« on: May 20, 2012, 01:46:53 pm »
Am tempted to get a hfpf but am wonderinf what are the effects on mpg?

Are we talking hardley noticable effect on mpgwhen driving sensibly or are we talking a good 5-10 less?

Opinions?

And i know "i shouldnt be looking at hfpf if im concerned about mpg" but if its the later of 5-10 then i wont

Technically you shouldn't see much difference to the standard pump unless you move on to a 2+ map.
Without traction power is nothing!

Ah i had been reading around and thought as much, i would of presumed that youd only notice a loss in mpg mid to high rev range as your increasing the fuel load. see i was lead to believe a hfpf would have a noticable effect stage 1 on such as smoother accelorations... will look into it more

Changing to hpfp didn't affect my mpg but going stage 2+ player did down. Usually between 26-28mpg before it was 30-35mpg.

This is to be expected as car is set up to drink more fuel to give some more power

from reading around a bit most people say that it shouldn't change unless you're driving like your hair is on fire. your fuel pump might be able to deliver more fuel, but it should only be doing this when it needs to i.e. when you're pressing on. when you're driving normally there shouldn't be a difference because it shouldn't be requesting more fuel
