Cambelt
« on: May 03, 2012, 05:25:10 pm »
Don't know if anyone has experience of changing a belt as the garage I am with now told me that it is a BIG job as in down pipe off fuel lines out. He may be chatting bubbles as I am meant to have to car back now but it's going to be ready tomorrow.

Just wondering if anyone can confirm this for me :)

Thanks guys

Mine was done in 4 hours,

Vw charge £420 for a cambelt pulleys and waterpump charge so don't pay any more than that

In this situation it is actually worth ringing around different VW garages, some offer special offers

Couldn't agree more. My local VW franchise quoted me a reduced price of something like £450 for the cam belt and water pump but a fairly local Skoda garage quoted me £360.

It pays to shop around  :happy2:
