MK5 gti R32 style exhaust
« on: May 20, 2012, 07:59:47 pm »
Im looking at getting a R32 style exhaust for my gti in the next month or so, and i no nothing about exhaust  :ashamed:

Ive been thinking about BCS or Blueflame as i have read many good thing about them but Milltek is still on the list but read something about the back box hangs to low?

Want something a bit louder than the standard exhaust but no overly loud so i can be heard coming from a mile away. More sound than performace. Nice sounds when town driving but when i put my foot down it opens up with RAWWW.

What sort of prices would i be looking at?

Any pics or vid clips would be great help

sounds like you want a non-resonated kit. louder than the resonated but not too loud on idle, only when you put your foot down.
i think I've read somewhere that milltek have sorted their back boxes out and are shallower now..

I would go for blueflame if i were you as i had the milltek one first and had a huge box sticking out looks no ugly and non OEM, Also if you dont want too loud go for 2 boxes, Call them or inbox adam

I will have to have a look to see if milltek have made the back box smaller.

What is the advantage of having to boxes?  :ashamed:

Can i change the tips? as a few exhausts have 2.75" and i was thinking of going for 3" and its should fill out the lower valance

Two boxes means more resonated which is what you want, The less boxes the louder. Yeah go for 3" but dont worry becuase the tip size is different anyways, A blueflame R32 tip is 4" fits valance perfectly  :happy2:

Yer thats sounds perfect as it wouldnt to too loud and will give some grunt when the pedal goes down, So get a bit of both. 4" :surprised: That would be an interesting look.

Mine after just being fitted by Awesome. Cat back non res and it's not loud at all, so quiet even when you give it some

Gt Tdi 140 so should fit the same, this was prior to any changes by milltek.

Thats why I changed from milltek, IMO if you follow your car from a friends car and look from the rear that box dont look very good and sound was only slightly louder, blueflame is the perfect 1 to go for

Quite right, you can definitely see it from behind but personally it doesn't bother me.

Blue flame do get excellent reviews tho

Thanks for the pic but the backbox does sit to low for my liking.

I just got an email back from blueflame:

Cat back will set you back £562 with slight improvement in sound.

Full system with 200 cell sports cat normally £1200 but would do for £860
Or we can build a bespoke system on the car at the factory.

I gathered that the full system would be the best but is there any cheaper options or it is really worth paying nearly 900 on an exhaust?

No worries, if nothing else at least it made your mind up for you.

Milltek tbe are very similar money. That's a good discount
