The dreaded offset question.
« on: May 23, 2012, 09:57:51 pm »
Hi guys,

I always promised myself that I'd never post one of these threads, but here I am.

I'm after a set of swanky show wheels for the summer and I'd like to run as wide as possible at the back without arch rolling etc.

I've seen a nice set that are 9j wide at 42offset.

I'd be willing to stretch some 225/40 tyres onto them as they are only for show.

Will they fit? :pomppomp:

I'm not 100% but I reckon yes... I know I'm running 8" with equivalent ET37, which is same as 8.5" ET 42, and i reckon with the extra strecth on a 9" rim and i reckon i've got a little room to spare... SO I'm saying yes... But don;t hold me to it :)

This is on the back, on the front i reckon you'll get rubbage... :(

If they are just for show you will be alright, if you plan on gong round bends fast then you will get that lovely sound of tyres shredding and arches bending.  :happy2:
Just go easy and you will be fine.

I'm down all the way on the rears (H&R Twintubes) and no rubbing. Only rubs the front on very large dips, and my front arches are rolled. Full lock is fine!!.

Are they 9" on front too dude?

These are 8" on front so I'm only really worried about the rear

Ps. I'm this low...

If 8's on front with 225 tyres ET42, for show you'll be fine...

I reckon the 9's with 225 ET42 will go on the rear for show... and will look mint, but only my opinion...

I'm 8.5" et38 all round dude.

You look to be a small bit lower than me. Might take a bit of messing with the C-spanner if you want to drive very hard.  :happy2:
