EVOMS fitting on an Edition 30
Hurdy:
Well I decided to fit the EVOM's intake myself. It arrived this afternoon and so I downloaded the "How to..." and immeditaely came across some problems that aren't on it.
The write up is a K03 write up and so doesn't have the take off pip like the ED30. Getting the pipe off to the turbo is like 3rd degree torture trying to get in there. Then came the fitting of the EVOMS.
The shield around the intake pipe didn't fit for three reasons
1. I have a Forge diverter valve and associated piping is in the way
2. I have extra wiring coming across the fusebox for both the headlights and the sound system
3. I have aftermarket headlights which protrude further into the aibox area
So, I've had to "remodel" the shape of the airbox shield.
I then fitted the downpipe and after I had done this found that the MAF housing slopes downwards and so you cannot get it in unless you fit the MAF first and then fit the downpipe.
Next up, the OEM screws that hold in the MAF in the OEM housing do not fit in the EVOMS....WTF!!!
At this stage I was due out to dinner as it is the Missis's birthday tomorrow.
Hopefully all will be well tomorrow.
PS....I'm taking plenty of pics in case anyone wants a PROPER write up of a K04 EVOMS on an ED30 :happy2:
Rant over

Yes, the one I've ordered is specific to the K04. Unfortunately for me, I have a few mods in the engine bay which get in the way of the EVOM's ...specifically
Part of the take-off for the Forge DV piping
My rear section of the aftermarket headlight housing encroached into the engine bay further than stock (Hacksaw FTW!!!)
Circuitry for the headlights and for the power cables to the amp and head unit were nestled in the gap for the EVOM's shield.
However, the good news is that I finished it this morning and so here is the completed article.
Took it out for a test drive and so far no CEL. :happy2:
Talk about an induction noise and turbo chatter on the overrun :jumping:
I totally agree when they say it sounds like Darth Vader under your bonnet
The test run revealed that the take off is a little less hectic - so some torque has gone at the lower end?!?
Also revealed that the top end is even more frenetic - There is an extra surge towards the redline that wasn't quite as pronounced as before - even better when added to the higher redline change-up......STEVE PG
I'll have to try and jump the queue at the Superchips RR day now!!!
