At least give it a year to let VW iron out any faults if any with the new GTI and release better models!

Do you think? I thought they would need about 3 weeks to iron out any issues, as looking at the brochure, the MK6 is virtually identical to the MK5, apart from the fact that is not as good looking!!

I for one will be keeping my Mk5. No salesman could convince me to part with £7k ++ for a car that is virtually identical to the one I have!

Definately keep the S3 John, like others say getting into a new GTI would be a step down.  :happy2:

S3 has gone but not buying a new GTI just after something cheaper now! Probably back to a R32! Got my money back on the S3!

I guess funds were needed or a project? or did you have another reason?, if you have no family worries,  have a look at the new R scirroco

Finances aside, it depends on what you want out of a car. The Audi is very good - alot of extra poke and Quattro.
However, it's as dull as dishwater to drive. (this is coming from an S4 driver!! )

The Golf is much more involving as a drive, albeit a tad slower, without 4wd......

As I said, depends what you want out of a car.....

Just couldn't justify the £26k I spent for a second car! I am now looking for a older S3 or R32 and not wanting to spend over £18k! Plenty of cars to choose from just need to find the right one!

I sort of understand that... feel the same about the R32 sometimes - although its my wife's car.  But then all thoughts like that are immediately banished when I take it for a drive and listen to that     V6 sound - with the windows down of course
