Maf sensor issue
« on: August 20, 2015, 08:17:35 pm »
Hello guys! Looking for some advice for an edition 30 2007 plate on 46000 miles. With full service history.
I've got a stage 1 remap from DNA tuning around 6 months ago.
Now I've had problem after problem with different stuff. I had a dsg service with a recall for new coil packs. Car would not run properly through the gears and judder. So I went down the route of changing cam follower, diverter valve, new spark plugs, new pressure sensor and then went and had a diagnostic by a performance company to tell me I got a messed up maf sensor and I need to order one. He cleaned it up he said and the car was running so smooth all the way home. Now I've fitted the new maf sensor and the car seems to struggle to turn over and nearly cuts out then fires in! Also it being dsg through the gear change it feels so heavy and it does not feel like a smooth change but when he cleaned the old one this problem was gone. Also when the gear does change up and the Rev needle drops it drops ever so slightly again before picking back up. This is through every gear. It has got to be the map surely? I cannot get to the bottom of this problem. Any advice? Or anyone had this problem.

Did you buy a genuine MAF sensor?

Mine does the rev dropping thing to. Changes gear, drops RPM, then it drops by another 25-50 RPM, then picks up. Does it in all gears. You can even hear the exhaust note change slightly. I'm pretty sure this is normal as I know of another 57 plate DSG Ed30 that does it too.

Yeah man genuine maf sensor. Awh that's good to know apparently a drop in the needle could mean a leak. I had everything checked. But it seems like if I put my foot down it will drop gears then go up and like jerk through every change like it is not smooth like it used to ha. Maybe the map is to harsh or I need a dsg remap. Anyone had one of these do they take the change out of it slightly. Regards. May go for a revo or apr map instead.

My thoughts would be check for a leak first - what air filter you got fitted?

Got a ram air induction kit that seems really solid kit. I may check the boost pipes and the inter cooler pipes for any leaks. What's the best way to tell for a leak?

I would physically check all you've disturbed - this type of gear for leaks

But more often than not we find it with a hose and small propane canister with a flash back arrestor.
