Would I need to install x con before Installing sky go?
My son takes over the tv when he is here so need sky go for f1 and movies on my iPad
No you can instal xcon afterwards, it blocks Sky Gos jailbreak detection

latest version PingIt doesn't work with a jailbreak but will again once xCon is updated
I take it your talking about a cracked version of the app as mine works fine. 
PingIt is free so no need to pirate it. When I try and use it, it reports that that this device is jailbroken
