S3 Swop for New GTI. Should I?
« on: May 20, 2009, 06:47:11 pm »
I was looking in my local VW today as our Touran was having it's service and got talking to a sales man whilst I was looking around the New GTI. He said that one was sold but they have another one ordered in Red 5 door with quite a few extras coming in 2 weeks time! Offered me a straight swop for my Facelift S3 that I have had for only 6 weeks. The new golf retails at £25,200. I must admit I am tempted but not so sure if it would be a sensible move!? All thoughts would be appreciated!

Cheers John

No wayyyyyy!!

I think you've bought the S3 at the perfect time - right after the mid-life facelift.

To buy the MK6 so early in its lifecycle would not be a sensible move IMO. The S3 is a great car, and you've got a particularly good example!  :happy2:

I wouldn't as knowing you, which i dont lol you will only trade it in for a R-model GTI or R20 when they come out, keep a car for more than 2 weeks

hmm this is how I look at it:

Short term: you would have a pretty rare car with only a handful of them on the road which would be pretty cool

Long term: more will appear on the roads and you will wish you had a KO4 under the hood and regret swapping the S3

So I would keep the S3

Thanks for all your thoughts guys! I have just had a blast in the S3 along the forrest road and got all 4 wheels off the ground!  I recon if it was not for the 4 wheel drive I would of put it in the ditch! I didn't realise how fast I was going! I wonder how the new GTI would of coped in the same situation!

I will be keeping the S3 for now until something better somes about! I just need to treat it to Tom's wheels!

Like VC said dont make us E-Slap you. S3 is an awesome car not as good as the ED30 obviously  :happy2:  :signLOL:

At least give it a year to let VW iron out any faults if any with the new GTI and release better models!

R20T or whatever it will be called for the win
