They will probably have 225/35 tyres so will look very skinny on the wheel. This will increase your arch gap and make your car look a little 4x4 ish. But hey if you like them go for it. It's your car :happy2:

The tyres are 225's. I'd suggest lowering your car a bit as the arch gap wouldn't suit the wheels. A set of springs wouldn't set you back too much and as long as you don't go too low there won't be rubbing issues etc. Even GTI or GT TDI suspension would be an improvement, I believe they're the same.
GTI going...

19 are toooo much for golf, lol. with 17 back axle asks for lowering, with 19 - it would be like a cart wag.

I would go for 17"-18" wheels plus lowering springs

have a look at the huge wheel thread here, some very nice 18's and 19's too on there..........., if the car is sitting just right 19's can look great IMO, though its each to thier own taste when it comes to wheel size.
im currently running 18" BBS ch with a wider offset and car lowered a fair bit and im now considering going for the correct offset and sneaking 19" under the arch lip  :surprised:

You'll be fine with 19's, a small drop would be good though, use the "Search" on here, loads of TDI's with 19" wheels. Have a look at Eibach pro springs (more stock feel) with less drop, Eibach Sportlines (little stiffer) with unto 40mm drop or H&R springs, quite stock feel and around 40mm (ish) drop. If you go 19" do the screw delete mod, on here somewhere!!
Happy hunting

I'm running Eibach Sportline springs with 18" Speedlines and am very happy with the set up and look
