Coolent leak
« on: May 23, 2009, 10:18:14 pm »
I have noticed that my car has started to work its way through rather a lot of engine coolent. On a closer inspection i can see that there is coolent dripping on to the gearbox. Im not sure where the leak is coming from???? If anyone has any ideas that would be great!

Manual or DSG?
If Manual there is a stupid conection on the side of the block just above the gearbox with a plastic "u" clip i have seen those work loose.
If its DSG there are two cooler pipes going the the "KTM" labled cooler unit, one also has a "u" clip holding a comection together. i would start with checking they havent worked loose.

Cheers

....Is that the same connection you thought might have once been (or indeed was) the cause of my coolant leak in the past, Mark?

HI Robin

Yep was thinking possibly the same thing, but without seeing exactly where the coolant stains are, just a guesstimate at the moment.

Cheers

Well, obviously the answer is for Pete (plod86) to reduce his engine movement (and potential stress on the coolant connection thingy on a modded car) by getting a dogbone engine mount  . I can recommend one which VWR offer btw

[Really nice mod - Review to be posted soon]
