rcd 500 fader
« on: May 25, 2012, 05:34:30 pm »
Hi guys
I'm having a slight problem with my rcd500
which i swaped the standard rcd300 for
I have had a new can gateway (thanks golfman)
but it seems that the front speakers aren't working(ps the stereo has been in for a while, just never checked the fader)
is it a coding problem ?

I had that problem, it was loose cabling at the quadlock. There should be no coding problems.

Hi mate
cheers would it make any differance that the rcd500
was fitted to a car with 'upgrade sound system'
the only reason i ask is that a mate has vag-com and its say the radio was fitted with an amp??
would/does the rcd500 have to have a amp to drive the front spaekers as it's only them that aren't working??

Cheers

if your audio system is not Premium ( without monsoon amp ) and you've taken HU from premium  system you have to code it. It's for rns headunits, but should be the same and for rcd. Of course, you need to code if you go from premium to non amped system too. Secondly, i would check the cable first. Cheers.

Hi guys
just thought I would update you and anyone else who might find this useful
I had problems with the fader on my rcd 500 which i had fitted to replace the standard rcd 300
after a lot of checking and double checking(cheers Glen - Ess_Three)
I decide to see if the knackered rcd 500 i had kicking about(cd mech feck'd!) fader was working
and it was so looking at the two units i saw that they seemed to be in two parts
I spilt them and put the good cd mech on to the bottom part which the fader worked and
now I have a fader front to rear

Just to say thanks alot to all who have helped in this, here on the site  :happy2:
