Boiler. Nothing worse than sitting in a cold house or flat. Sacrafice boiler for car  x brownie points earned by other half = better spec car next year. Always thinking ahead, never logical and always impulsive.

Putting a car before anything that needs doing to the house is a no brainer IMO, house always comes first.
Then again, I have kids so it's more them first and making sure they are comfortable before a car for myself.

New Boiler all day long.
You spend a hell of a lot more time in your house than your car and it's no fun being cold, did without ours for about a week last year and GOD it was cold.

Car money and modding money should be an after thought when everything else is sorted, is only a car. Love my ED30 to bits BUT it's way down on my list of prioraties.

The way I see it, house = investment, car = frivolity. So really it depends on how sensible you are, but for me it would be the house. Ultimately the car will cost more to run, insure etc also, whereas a modern central heating system should save you money in the long run.

aye it a tough cookie this one. old heating system works fine, with the water tank in bathroom, just the new boilers are instant heat, no waiting for tank to heat up.

You've answered your own question.  This country is too cold to have a boiler that takes an age to heat up. Go for a condensing boiler with thermostatic valves on the radiators and you'll be laughing come winter, where the Edition 30, nice as it is will be stuck outside on the drive in the snow.
