Here in the states the recommended grade is 5W40. Going to do a change this weekend with Castrol SPT synt. and installing a drain valve as well. Drains will just be a flip of a switch from now on.

Drain valve?  :popcornsoda:

it is the oil slick button next to EPS.  :happy2:

I did my usual 5k oil change last week with edge 5w30.

Did a track day at the weekend so am
Doing another oil change this week.

VW 502 00/ 505 00 is the the correct Vw spec?  Ordering the new spec edge 5w40. Any thoughts?

just out of interest Mike, any particular reason for going for the 5w40 (over the 5w30)?

Rich

Euro car parts - castrol edge 5w30 4l £26.99, until 6th june, with 'jubilee30' promo code.

Nice one!!  Good spot.

How many litres do I need. Never changed it myself ,get the garage to do it so I genuinely have NO idea! Is that bad?
  :ashamed:

Think I will stick with the 5w 30 Castol Edge as I only travel 2 miles to work so engine never even has a chance to warm up!

I'm sure quantum 5w40 platinum is like 20 quid or less for 5 litres at tps and that's the genuine vw stuff surely u can't go wrong with that, why pay more for castrol edge
