Timing Belts

Hi Guys,

Our GTI MkV has just ticked over to 40,000miles and whilst in looking at Beemers for the othercar the guy told me if my Golf has reached 40,000miles then I really NEED to have the belt done as a matter of urgency  :confused:

I haven't read or hear any horror stories.....any of you know what he is so concerned about?
