Rough prices for straight engine swap or engine rebuild

What prices are to be expected from usual garages to do a engine swap and specialists too?
Also same for rebuilds? If at a position to have to change which one is the best to go for?

alll depends what is up with the engine--but if your engine swapping put the s3 engine

Would also like to know how much it would roughly cost to fit an s3 engine to my dsg gti.

Anyone know what I'm looking at and who to take it to?

last time i got a engine changed it was £350, its buying the bloody thing that costs a fortune.

i bought a engine with a gear box and clawed some back selling all the bits that i didnt need

I suspect you'll want to get the car's ecu as well...

If looking to go from a AXX or BWA (200bhp) engine to an BHZ or BWJ (S3 and Cupra, can't remember the code for the ED30) preferably you need the ECU an the 200bhp ECU won't support the 3,0Bar MAP sensor and softwarewise you might struggle to get the max from the swap keeping the 200bhp ECU  :happy2:

No trouble in swapping the engine block itself. As i'm informed you need an ECU for a similar car. A Seat ECU shouldn't work in a golf, so ideally you need an ECU from a car of same type as your own, but i have not this confirmed.  :sad1:

Any engine from any TFSi will go straight in and work with your current ecu even if the engine is from a DSG.  Just use all your old ancillaries and you wont have a problem.

No boosting problem, you just can't use the MAP sensor

No boosting problem, you just can't use the MAP sensor

But I will have a k04 on that with s3 injectors?

You cant just swap ecu's as the ecu is coded to the dash.

Use your current ecu and get it mapped for the K04 and S3 injectors.

So using the origanal gti ecu will work fine, its just the map sensor wont work, which means changing it over for your own engine.
Anything else?
If it's not broke, Mod it.....
