Revision A Cam?

I've a 2006 Gti, with the soft revision A cam, was there a recall? Willl VW pay out?  Cam needs replacing, any advice? Thanks

no and no sorry dude no recall and vw wont pay up for that. its costs barely anything to buy grom a part centre and change yourself. after having mine changed i felt a little ashamed that i didnt do it myself before.

Any particular reason for cam being knackered?

Hope you get it sorted soon, and that the £damage isn't too bad.

Has the cam follower been changed regularly?

From what I've been told, clearly the cam follower needs changing at various intervals to avoid major failure. But changing it too often can actually potentially cause damage to the cam  :confused:

Any ideas when the cam was changed from A to B? I wouldn't consider your car to be a particularly 'early' version

IIRC only the Americans have a recall for this  :sad1:

We are all getting worried over nothing  :grin:

Think it's just the Americans with their carp fuel & oil that's causing them to wear out  :laugh:

I changed mine @ 66k miles AXX engine.. hardly worn, just a tiny bit of black in the middle was worn
