.
Seems to hold the road (Nurburgring) quite well. Looks very similar although it's disguised a bit.

When is it rumoured to be shown officially to the public? September's Paris Show is the usual but 2012 or 2013?

Agreed! So if the Mk6 was considered to be a Mk5.5, what is this latest version? - A Mk6 or a Mk6.5?

That must be a tornado red one if they need a full body bonnet bra.  :innocent:

It is. Longer wheelbase, wider track.

....That suggests an even bigger car than previous Golfs. I can't think that VW would have done this just to improve(?) what is already good handling. Perhaps there is less frontal overhang.

I guess a longer and wider track is the way nowadays.

I know it's hardly comparing 'apples with apples' but my other halfs 2011 A4 Avant is extremely stable and comfortable with it's wide track & long wheelbase compared to my Mk5 and can be hustled along quite well given it's a diesel 'bus'.

Suppose in the segment where Golf 7 will sit, Astra and Focus are both now longer/wider than their previous models.
Even new 991 Porsche has a wider front track doesn't it..

I generally am disappointed about new cars growing and growing. Just think of
the weight growing at the same time.

In case of the Mk.VII Volkswagen promises 50 kg ('up to 80 kg') less weight by
the use of more alloy parts and other advanced techniques.

Even more both track and wheelbase grow, but overall height is reduced and
weight distribution improved.

The data of the new Audi A3 8V 1.8 TFSI S-tronic:

- 180 PS, 250 Nm from 1200/min
- 7.2 s from 0 to 100 km/h
- Vmax 232 km/h

This is almost the data of the Mk.V GTI !!

The sad thing is whilst cars grow larger, parking spaces stay the same size!  :fighting:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
