Guy at Leicester VW was telling me that VW have changed there policy on the Rust claims now and accepts there is a problem and in most cases paying 70% towards the claim with customer services picking up the other 30% but as said in my earlier post they are trying to make a repair before authorising a new wing

My car has been in there on no fewer than 4 occasions for £1000+ repairs. If they think they will get away with asking me for 30%  :P

Just wanted to know what their stance is on wing repairs... save me writing long emails and explaining what the issue is.

It's been 4 weeks to the day since my claim was submitted, my local dealer said I'd hear back in a 'few' weeks. Ain't heard nothing yet.  :sad1: Funny thing with my claim is my local dealer (Stoke) has passed my claim onto Liverpool VW's bodyshop!    I asked the Warranty manager at the time as to why this was and she said she had no idea! Seems very odd why they would pick somewhere so far away to do the work, the only reason I can think for them doing this is because both dealerships are part of the same franchise (Clare James Automotive).

Confused. Am I being fobbed off or is this how some dealerships work?

I would chase them up and if they are still waiting ask for any reference numbers and call VW UK or if they don't help at all then I would still call VW UK.

They might be sending it to Liverpool as its the same group and that is where their bodyshop is

After starting this thread ages ago, I finally dropped the car in to the body shop today to get the wings done. My fault it's taken a while because I had to get it done after my epic road trip holiday! Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to be given a nice 11 plate Mercedes B180 as a loan car. Much better than expected!  :happy2:

Some really good info on this thread. Discovered some bubbling on the underside of my arches last week and thought I'd have to pay for the work. Gonna go in the local stealers this week and see where I get with them

Good to hear Mat!

are they replacing the wings or reparing? did they kick up any fuss in agreeing to pay 100% towards the repair?

will be interested to hear how good/bad quality the repair is.

thanks

Still in talks with VW UK / my local VW bodyshop - the latest is that VW will only pay 70% max for the repair, the retailer has to pay the rest, which apparently they can't afford but the bodyshop manager is going to look into the numbers tomorrow and get back to me  :sad1:  Not going well so far...!  :sad1:

No mate They were spot on but I do know the paint shop manager but he said it will 100% get new wings I will make sure of it no way I we going to try repair them it's not worth it as once we repair them if the rust comes back its us that have to cover the cost of the next repair or wing replacement. To be honest they phoned me yesterday to say they were not happy with one of the wings so are re doing one of them so it's 100% for me

Oh my god I am having the worst time with this. The bodyshop called me today saying that VW will only pay 70%, leaving me to pay £686.49. When I asked why I have to pay anything at all he said I'd have to speak to VW UK.

Spoke to VW UK who told me it's not covered under warranty and so as a goodwill gesture they would pay 70% and no more.

I tried to explain that this is a common problem which many have had repaired for free but they weren't having any of it. The person looking after my case is back in tomorrow so they will call me back tomorrow...

Any suggestions? I feel like I'm getting nowhere  :fighting:
