Just spoke to my local dealer, at first he said that i would definately have to pay 30% of the costs to replace the wings.

As soon as i mentioned that alot of mk5 owners have had their's replaced for free and I have a PDF document explaining the issue, he said they can't have had them replaced for free at all.

I said, i can provide proof of this, few mins later he said sure we can do it for free when would you like to book it in

The absolutely perfect example of why everyone should politely not take no for an answer and refer them to the PDF. Glad you succeeded  :happy2:

My car is currently in Aberdeen Specialist Cars bodyshop getting both front wings replaced and painted.  Also the rear bootlid is getting done as there was a small bubble of rust under the bootlid handle.  All is getting done free of charge.

More than happy with their help up until now and the car should be back tomorrow.  Unfortunately i am offshore for another week and a bit so won't know the condition of it until i'm home.

I'm glad VW were able to help with this as it really makes me feel like a valued customer and would definitely consider a VAG car again in the future.

Is your car modified at all?
Mine is going to them in a few weeks for the wings to get replaced ( had to wait for a courtesy car)
And I have an exhaust and lowering kit to fit to my car but I am not sure if they would refuse the work if I had the parts fitted when I dropped the car off

Baz

Mine is completely standard bar a Carbonio Intake (which the guy wouldn't see when assessing the car).

My guess is that if they've already had the go ahead from VW for the work to be done it's no skin off their nose if the car is modified.

What I would say though is that i'd just wait and fit your stuff after.  How nice will it be to have fresh paint and new parts on?! :D

Ask for Lee in the bodyshop he will sort you out no problem. Be prepared for a wait as he told me to phone him the beginning of July to get booked in as they are busy at the moment.

....Aftermarket mods such as intakes and exhausts have absolutely nothing to do with rust appearing on wings. I don't even understand a VW dealer trying to use such reasons to wriggle out of the work because under warranty they get paid anyway.

The only valid 'wriggle-out' is if you have lowered your car or modified the wheel arches/liners such that the paint seal has broken and rust started.

Took my car into main stealers 2 weeks ago tomorrow (8/6) rang dealer again yesterday who gave me a number which after googling it turned out be for VW Van Centre Liverpool and said they were the ones who would be sorting the repair work out... bit of a distance from where I live, Stoke! Rang the number numerous times and it just rings out! Why do I get the feeling I am being fobbed off / the buck is being passed?
