Mine booked in for the 23rd July at Leicester VW for two new wings  :happy2:

No cost and free courtesy car, car will be in for 4 days :sad1:

Also will see if I can get them to respray my bonnet (Tornado red) quite a few stonechips!!!

Any idea on cost for this?

Thanks to Lee in the bodyshop at VW Leicester who has been impeccable.

Probably around £250 to £300 plus VAT. Best bet is to talk to the body shop manager about it as they will already have the vehicle and have the paint mixed so might be able to get a good deal :happy2:

Spoke to Lee in the body shop and said it will be about 200 plus vat so sounds pretty good?

Had a call from VW body shop yesterday - they told me I would have to pay 30% of the costs - I said that's not fair - it's under warranty, average miles, many others have had it done for free etc... They said I would have to speak to customer services and get a case reference number and go back to them with that before they can tell the warranty people I'm not happy paying 30%  :sad1:  What does the PDF doc state?

The PDF does not say who should pay what and all cases are assessed on individual basis but nearly everyone recently has got 100% so it's definitely worth speaking to VW UK

Yep,

Policy changed in June, as long as the wings are original and not been painted/repaired before VW will pay 100%.

This was confirmed to me at Leicester VW.

If you are un happy with the service you have got so far it might be worth speaking to Lee at VW bodyshop Leicester 0116 2148878 and he should be able to put your dealer straight!

....As said, the PDF doesn't say about payment but just why and how-to as an internal document for VW dealer bodyshops.

Don't take no for an answer! Politely tell them you will take your business and goodwill elsewhere. Try another dealer? Phone VW UK and politely complain.

Tell us how you get on, please  :happy2:

PDF Doc emailed to you.  :happy2: As above it doesn't state anything about price or % to pay but it does show that it is not an uncommon problem. Perhaps this, and a polite but firm talk with your dealer will persuade them to cover it 100%.

IanV5, I'd be interested if you can show us a doc ument/website/etc that shows VW's change in policy to this issue. Cheers  :happy2:

VW Leicester (Lee) told me.

When I took my 2005 Gti in he looked at the wings, measured the paint depth with a gauge, could not get under the bonnet at the time as my bonnet release was stuck!

Did not take any pictures. Took my details and that was it. Car booked in on the 23rd of this month :happy2:

Just spoke to VW customer care and they told me it was unlikely that VW would pay anymore than 70% towards the repairs  :fighting:  But they logged the case, I have a case ref and they'll be talking to the retailer, getting back to me in 2 days...  :sad1:  To be continued...!
