Hi All,
I am new to the forum and took delivery of my 56 plate gti today.
Unfortunately there is some dreaded bubbling on the driver side front wheel arch.
Please could somebody send me the PDF doc so I have some extra ammunition when visiting VW Leicester tomorrow.

Email: Tom.queally@gmail.com

Thanks in advance,
Tom

Hi,
Could I request the PDF also.

Stevenburnett80@hotmail.com

Not sure if the dealer will do it, the car is a 54 plate.
Never even looked at it until I read about the wings today. Both mine are bubbling, left side far more than right.

My car is currently in Aberdeen Specialist Cars bodyshop getting both front wings replaced and painted.  Also the rear bootlid is getting done as there was a small bubble of rust under the bootlid handle.  All is getting done free of charge.

More than happy with their help up until now and the car should be back tomorrow.  Unfortunately i am offshore for another week and a bit so won't know the condition of it until i'm home.

I'm glad VW were able to help with this as it really makes me feel like a valued customer and would definitely consider a VAG car again in the future.

Would you have a contact name for who you delt with?
Also, did you arrange an appointment first?

Thanks

I got back off holiday ready to pick the car up yesterday and I was told the car was still in pieces but all painted. They had taken the wings off and sanded them (as per VW UK instructions) and found a repair was not possible so had to re apply for good will for new wings as per the procedure. They also found rust on the passenger seal, which is good, so now both of them have been done but this also required an application for good will as well.

The cause for the car not being ready was due to one of the wings being on back order and it didn't arrive until the end of last week. Due to them having the car for over a week and them "over shooting" the agreed return date, they allocated me a courtesy car. It should be finished and I'll have it back by the end of the week as they only have to bolt it all back together and clean/polish it.

Here's the new toy for a few days, a 1.2 Polo, not a bad car for what it is, especially as the last courtesy car was a matiz, but don't like the beige interior

54-plate shouldn't make any difference because the VW body warranty is 12 years.

My car is 54 plate with 95k miles on it and VW were happy enough to book it in (for inspection) for the 21st September, earliest date they had. I'll need to wait til then to find out the verdict. Will let you all know.

Robin, I've been told that the claims are not being done on the 12 year warranty and it's actually being done as a good will gesture due to it being a design flaw rather than bodywork failure. That's why it seems to vary on what people have to pay as its a good will gesture.

....That sounds like a VW dealer trying to make you feel he's doing you a big favour! Design flaw = Bodywork failure, what's the difference? [you don't need to answer that].
