Hi Guys,
Thought I'd keep you informed of things as it makes the forum a valuable resource.
I went along to morden VW (southwest london) met a lovely gentleman. He took a gauge to my car and acknowledge the problem on the cars. He's a mark 5 GTI owner. He said that the problem affects mainly diesel models! I pointed out that its still the same model car and he agreed. He was well aware of the nature of problem and the fact that it was a manufacturing defect caused by the lining.
He then took a paint depth gauge to my car and the reading came above two hundred and he said that may make warranty work a little tricky as the car has been resprayed. My heart sank. Every other panel on the car was straight. He was honest enough to say that it doesnt change the nature of the problem.
He told me they don't have a paint shop and I would have to go along to guilford to get it sorted as they'd give me a hire car and would stop them from being the piggy in the middle as they have a paint shop. There is no guarantee that they will be willing to consider my warranty claim. He told me not to let them know we had spoken and come back to him if there where any problems....
Guys what do you think are my chances of success? Any pointers would be greatfully appreciated!
