When I was offered a 70/30 split on the boot rust I wrote a complaining email to the VW MD and then they somehow realized that "it was the right thing to do" to repair it free of charge. Don't always accept their first offer  :happy2:
I've spoken to VW executive office about half a dozen times now and they argued that they are being more than fair and i can't see them changing their mind. I have rust bubbles on my car yet it is not somehow completely covered by the vw anti corrosion warranty!! Why can't they just fix it free of charge or am i expecting too much? I had a 54 plate BMW 330d up until March this year. It had full BMW service history. It had slight rust bubbling on two wings and boot lid...i took it to my nearest BMW dealer, they inspected it and agreed there and then to fix everything free of charge pending the proof of full BMW service history. Who should i contact next at VW as i would have expected more than that from a company like VW?

@ peeliewally:
Find out who the VW UK MD is and his/her contact details and bypass VW UK Customer Services if you aren't getting satisfaction. Email or snailmail and politely make it clear you are complaining about the responses you have had to date. List dates of responses and as much detail as possible.

Mark your communication as 'Private & Confidential' so that Customer Services don't see it first and lose it.

Sorry pal, I don't have it anymore. I actually wrote the email to Martin Winterkorn in Germany who runs the whole of VW. Didn't get a direct reply from him, but his people did and they forwarded it to the UK VW MD. The letter was along the lines of I had owned the car from new it was my pride and joy and I had regularly cleaned it and followed servicing schedule correctly, so there was nothing more I could have physically done to prevent rust that shouldn't be there on a modern top branded car. I was polite but explained I was losing faith in VW and so were many others that I was in contact with who had similar problems. Also stated that I knew some people had had it fixed for free, so why should I be punished.
Hope this helps  :happy2:

Well I got some great news yesterday afternoon. VW have agreed to do a 70/30 split on my boot and sills and 100% on the wings so I have to pay about £250. So it goes to show just got to pester them.
So next question is does the £250 souls like a good price??

Not good news I'm afraid........
I sent an email to VW UK Managing Director (Simon Thomas) and it was received by the Executive Office that I had been dealing with already. I don't think that the MD actually saw the email as they are being very stubborn and not budging with their previous offer of 50% contribution from "dealer" and 25% contribution from Volkswagen. £475 is the final offer for rear quarter panel, both sills and tailgate.

Apparently my car was not covered by the Volkswagen second hand car scheme as it was eight years old when I bought it from a cowboy VW dealer. At no point during the purchase of my car was this said or discussed, hence the "dealer" not wanting to address a long list of advisories on the MOT I got with the car. A 12-month MOT that was done the day before I collected the car and after I had agreed the price for my car. The MOT was one of the last things handed over along with the keys.
I know the car is eight years old but I have had dealings with this Scottish monopoly car dealer. The customer service is amongst the worst I have experienced anywhere.
I'm giving up as I can't be arsed with the whole nonsense anymore. They can paint my quarter panel for free but I'm not paying the rest. Is it a different kind of rust on my sills & tailgate which they aren't willing to pay for? I don't think so.

I'll get the rest fixed at some point along with the new discs & pads, wishbone bushes, and track control gaitors.

They haven't got a bodyshop so if all goes to plan I imagine they sub it out?

After depth being taken, how long did Vw take to decide?
